About the Fenceline Network
Who started it
The Fenceline Network was started in October 2026 by residents behind Hillhouse Watch in Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire, UK. It is independent of Hillhouse Watch: it does not speak for Hillhouse Watch and Hillhouse Watch does not speak for it.
The three tiers
- Fenceline Network is the top tier. It covers community groups living beside industrial chemical contamination of any kind, anywhere in the world.
- PFAS Communities is the international network for communities living with PFAS and the wider contamination that comes with them. It is a member network of the Fenceline Network.
- PFAS Communities UK is the UK network. It is a member of PFAS Communities.
Each network keeps its own directory and its own members. Groups working on PFAS are listed in the PFAS Communities directory, and the Fenceline directory lists community groups working on other kinds of contamination, together with its member networks.
Independence and money
It is not part of any law firm, company or political party. No money is asked for or handled. There are no fees, no donations and no sponsorship on this site.
What the network offers
- Connecting communities with each other, across countries and across kinds of contamination.
- A shared public directory of community groups and networks.
- A way to show membership, using the badges on the Banners page.
Data policy
- We list groups only. We never publish the names or contact details of private individuals.
- For each listed group we show: group name, country, locality, type (resident-led or mixed), the kind of contamination in general words, status, public link and, for Listed groups, the date we checked it.
- Listed entries come from public pages we have opened. We link the source so you can check it.
- We do not name companies or publish claims about who caused contamination in a directory entry. The directory is about groups, not allegations.
- Any group can ask to be corrected or removed at any time. See Join, confirm, correct or remove.
- This site sets no cookies and uses no trackers or third-party scripts.
